Set to play his first show in the states in 12 years, and his first-ever in Florida, Damo Suzuki is generating lots of interest in the Miami underground.
At one time a traveling street musician, Suzuki is most commonly known as the once vocalist of Germany’s CAN. As such, he is cherished for his original musical contributions.
Considered incredibly innovative at the time of release (in the early 70s), you will hear reflections of Suzuki’s influence today in vocal stylings like that of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.
With a musical approach that seems to neglect the rules, Suzuki sings, often improvising, in no discernible language.
Sets are similarly unscripted and tend to follow no schedule or time restrictions.
Additionally, as Suzuki travels, his supporting band is organized locally, making for a completely new, fresh experience each time.
The show will take place in Miami’s premier experimental art space, the 777 International Mall, to the tune of local support from Dori y Eli, Pocket of Lollipops, Womanmay, and Jaialai.
Those interested can catch Suzuki, now performing as Damo Suzuki’s Network, Sunday, October 26 at 145 E. Flagler St. in Downtown Miami.
The event is all ages and tickets are only available at the door.
