I'm Your Knife

In chatting, acquaintances inevitably ask, “What is noise music?”. I struggle, always, with the impossibility of defining it, and with the claim that I cannot. But I’ve often got some vanilla-noob in my face trying to understand what this undefinable entity, of which I care for dearly, actually is.
Enter I’m Your Knife, an incredible wall of sound that is to me, perhaps the epitome of the genre. In my fumbling attempts to describe noise, I would be better served to just throw them on, and say nothing.
The music itself is lovingly layered screeching and static and screams that draw in and engage listeners whose brains beg only to know… what in the literal fuck. Though an impenetrable force of volume, I’m Your Knife is not overwhelming and unpleasant, as noise can be. Instead, the listener is continuously approached by new and at times melodic sounds making for an extremely interesting listen.
Skillfully crafted by art-angel-in-charge Valeria Fernandez and accomplice Theo Rodino, I’m Your Knife always draws a quiet, curious crowd.
Of their music the duo states “genre is a moving goal, we tend to stick to moods and try to balance preset sequences and improvisation“ a system that seems to work.
The team has no set dates for upcoming shows as they juggle several artistic endeavors including small tours and performance-based events. They do however have plans to record soon.
In addition to their music, you will come across creepy AF art in the form of videos, tangibles and of course their performances. All of which will haunt your dreams or.. if you, like me, enjoy watching someone get repeatedly punched in the face, maybe a little horny.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for upcoming shows for which I recommend you bring your A-game, as the rest of the line-up is unlikely to disappoint.
All told, for those of us who love dark visuals and haunting, enchanting performance, I’m Your Knife is a cannot miss. If you see them, tell them Bateman sent you, and buy the fucking tape.
